I offer in-person and tele-counseling in the state of Texas. My practice and life are guided by the Bantu philosophy of "Ubuntu," which means:
"I am because we are."
"In being seen by you, I see myself."
"In being known by you, I know myself."
"Humanity in Community."
I view most scenarios from a Relational Cultural Theory, Attachment, and Interpersonal Neurobiological perspective. I hope to forge a strong therapeutic alliance with you so that you have a safe place to work. I recognize that it takes courage to embark upon the healing journey.
I commonly work with men and women in multiple areas including LGBTQ issues, Sexual Abuse, Spiritual Abuse, and Identity and Differentiation.
I’ve been working with David for a few months, and he’s been friendly and supportive since the first session. I’m really happy and lucky to have met him. He listens and is easy to talk to, and he offers helpful advice and feedback. He both pushes me and offers a helping hand so that I overcome the challenges in my life. I can tell through our interactions that he has cares about my well-being and wants me to succeed. - C.
Dr. David Schlosz, is outstanding, in less than 3 months, we worked together and faced through difficult and personal problems. He's outstanding and very welcoming, I encourage anyone to select him as your counselor. (Anon.)
David is very kind, personable, empathetic and knows his stuff. He has helped me during a major trauma and other matters that have been extremely stressful. You can have open and frank discussions and he will not get offended. He has great insight. He ALWAYS wants the best for you even if it means leaving him. I've seen him since December 2019 and he is a treasure and if you've never had counseling David would definitely make you feel at peace and that it is a safe space where you can be 100% you and he will not judge you (Anon.)
He is one of the best therapists I have ever had. He gives me ideas of the reasons behind my behavior. It helps a lot (Anon.)
I’m new to counseling and David made me feel at ease and gave me great advice after listening to him (Anon).
I’ve been working with David for a few months, and he’s been friendly and supportive since the first secession. I’m really happy and lucky to have met him. With David, I feel comfortable enough to let it all out, talk about anything. And he isn't just indulgent or coddling, but genuinely supportive and empowering. He helps me talk through a lifetime of emotional issues and abuse related to my homosexuality, OCD, and just sort of my uniquely frustrating personality. With him, I am learning to be kind to myself, to celebrate my intelligence and uniqueness instead of seeing these things as faults. He has accomplished in a few months what a flotilla of prescription meds for a year could not do. One of my main goals was to get off the damn pills. I really, really don't like putting chemicals in or on my body; I come from a family who believes that the natural way is always best. What could be more natural than talking it out? Relieving, healing, and celebrative would be the three words I would use to sum up my sessions with David. We have a long way to go, but nothing makes the journey more enjoyable than the right travel partner. I cannot put into words the gratitude I have for you, David, and your organization. Thank you, thank you, thank you. - V.
A limited number of sliding scale appointments are available from $100/session.
